Studio Policies

These policies govern photography sessions with me. By booking a session, you agree to these terms. These policies are designed to set clear expectations and ensure a smooth experience for both of us.

Scheduling and Deposits

A deposit is required to secure your session date and time. This deposit is non-refundable and will be applied toward your session total. The deposit ensures your spot is held and allows me to prepare for your session.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please provide at least 72 hours notice. This allows adequate time to offer the slot to another client and adjust the schedule accordingly.

Sessions and deposits are fully transferable. If you are unable to use your session, you may transfer it to another person at no additional cost.

Payment Terms

Individual Studio Sessions: Your deposit is due at the time of scheduling to secure your appointment. The remaining balance is due at the conclusion of your session, after you have reviewed and selected your images. Payment can be made via cash or all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

Corporate Studio Sessions: Corporate clients do not require a deposit to book sessions. A coupon code will be provided for scheduling. Following the session, a digital invoice will be submitted to your designated point of contact. Payment may be made via online payment processor, ACH transfer, or physical check. Final images will be delivered upon receipt of payment.

On-Location Sessions: For projects with a total under $5,000, full payment is due upon receipt of invoice following the session. For projects exceeding $5,000, a 50% deposit is required at the time of scheduling, with the remaining balance due upon receipt of the final invoice.

Session Time

Sessions are scheduled for approximately 3 hours to allow adequate time for preparation, shooting multiple looks, and collaborative image selection. In practice, most sessions complete in 2 hours or less. There is no strict time limit enforced. The session continues until the work is done and you are satisfied with the results. The focus is on delivering excellent images, not watching the clock.

Please arrive on time for your session. If you arrive late, the session will proceed with whatever time remains available. If you arrive more than one hour past your scheduled appointment time without prior notice, the session may be considered forfeited. Your time is valuable, and so is mine.

Guests at Sessions

Friends, family members, and colleagues are welcome to accompany you to your session. During the actual photography portion, guests are asked to observe quietly and avoid interacting with you. This is important because your full attention needs to be on me and the camera to capture authentic, engaging expressions. Any distraction pulls your focus away from the collaboration and affects the quality of the results.

Once the shoot wraps and it's time to review and select images, guests are warmly invited to participate. Their input can be valuable in choosing which images best represent you.

Minors

I do photograph minors for professional headshots, including young actors, performers, and students building their portfolios. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the entire duration of any session involving a minor. This is a firm requirement with no exceptions.

Image Rights

When you receive your final images, you receive unlimited usage rights. This means you can use your images for any personal or professional purpose. LinkedIn profiles, company websites, marketing materials, social media, printed materials, and more. No restrictions or additional licensing fees.

Full buyouts are available for clients who require complete ownership of their images, meaning I would no longer retain any rights to use those images. Buyouts are priced separately and significantly higher than standard sessions due to the value being transferred.

Unless a buyout is purchased, I retain the right to use images from your session for portfolio display, marketing, social media, and promotional purposes. I am selective about which images are displayed publicly and prioritize work that best represents the work I want to show to my wider audience.

Image Delivery and Approval

Your images will be delivered to a private, password-protected online proofing gallery. Initially, downloads will be disabled. You are asked to review all images carefully and ensure you are satisfied with how they look. Once you provide written approval via email, the download feature will be enabled and you can retrieve your files.

If you see anything that needs adjustment, whether related to retouching, color, cropping, or any other aspect, please provide specific, detailed feedback. The more descriptive you can be about what you want changed, the easier it is to make accurate corrections. Circling areas in the image and explaining exactly what needs to change is extremely helpful. After corrections are made, the updated images will be uploaded and the approval process repeats until you are satisfied.

Turnaround time for final delivery varies depending on the scope and complexity of the project, the number of images requiring retouching, and the current workload. Timelines will be discussed and communicated clearly.

Retouching

All retouching is performed by me or an approved, trusted retoucher who is an integral part of my workflow. High resolution files are not provided for outside retouching under any circumstances. This policy exists to maintain quality control and ensure the final product meets my standards from capture through delivery.

Your input on retouching is welcomed and encouraged. During the image review process, you will have the opportunity to discuss what adjustments you would like made. The goal is to enhance your images while maintaining authenticity, not to create an unrealistic version of you.

Reasonable revisions are included with your retouching. If extensive revisions are requested repeatedly or feedback is unclear, limits may be applied on a case-by-case basis.

Image Storage

Final, delivered images are archived and kept indefinitely. You can request copies of your final images at any time in the future.

Images that were not selected during the editing session (outtakes, duplicates, and rejected shots) are deleted shortly after the session concludes, typically within one week. If you believe you may want access to non-selected images, please communicate this before the deletion window closes.

Refunds

Once a session has taken place, refunds are not available. The time, expertise, and creative effort invested in your session cannot be recovered or resold. Custom images created specifically for you have no value to anyone else.

If you have selected and paid for images that have not yet been retouched or delivered, a partial refund may be issued for the image cost upon request. The session fee itself is not refundable under any circumstances, as that time has already been spent.

The collaborative nature of the session, where images are reviewed together and you approve what is kept, ensures you have every opportunity to communicate concerns while adjustments can still be made.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates do not expire. They can be used at any time for any service I offer. Gift certificates are also fully transferable, so they can be given to another person if the original recipient is unable to use them.

Cancellation by Photographer

In the rare event that I must cancel your session due to illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond control, you will be contacted as soon as possible. A new session date will be arranged at your convenience. There is no penalty to you, and your deposit remains fully applied to the rescheduled session.

Liability and Insurance

I maintain full liability insurance coverage. The studio environment is safe and professional, with no hazards to clients who follow normal session procedures. Clients are not required to interact with any equipment during their session.

I am available 24/7. My phone is on, the live chat widget on this site stays active, and I check messages regularly. Sessions are by appointment only, but reaching me is not.
